You can make a room look larger even if you have little space to play with. There are various methods to trick the eye, and there are also practical ideas that can actually help you save some space in a small room . This way, you will not sacrifice any piece of furniture you need, and you will also have a chance to comfortably move around. You can do that either by giving up your king-sized bed, or you can pay extra attention when planning your interior layout. Here are some bedroom furniture arrangement ideas and decoration tips for a small room that are space-saving and stylish at the same time.

Where to place the bed in a small room

One of the greatest bedroom furniture arrangement ideas that you can use is to carefully choose the spot for your bed. Since it is an indispensable piece of furniture that you cannot withhold, just make sure you find the ideal place to fit it. If you choose a bed with storage, you will not only make the room stylish and practical but will also eliminate furniture  clutter. Still, this is not a mandatory option; it is more a matter of personal taste.

Creating your focal point

Turning a bed into the focal point of the room comes naturally when you have a narrow area. There are several ways to achieve the desired effect, even when your space is limited. For instance, you can place the bed next to the longest wall in the room. Usually, the bed will face your bedroom  entrance. It is the most common scenario and the most effective one. This kind of layout helps to open up a lot of space in the bedroom. You can also place an upholstered ottoman with storage at your bed footrest and use the piece for storing pillows, blankets and other odds and ends.

If, however, you have a twin bed in your children’s bedroom, you may want to place it in the corner of the room. This way, your little ones will have plenty of space to move around and play. And you will have enough space left for other furniture.

Mix up storage solutions

Being creative with all kinds of storage items can be the key to enlarging a small room. For instance, you may not have enough space for a nightstand, so “carving” a few shelves next to your headboard can be a very practical solution. Or you can use some “floating” small cabinets together with a few shelves.

Make use of the closet

Rethink the way you use your closet. If your room is so small that it does not allow you to place a chest of drawers, hide the unit in the closet. Rearrange all your things so you can accommodate another piece of furniture. This way, you will not have to sacrifice other furniture, such as a writing desk, a dressing table  or a discreet console table
