2016 Interiors
The shift toward rustic decor is not going to be the only change 2016 interiors have in store for the homeowners. As of this year, the newest decoration trends are going to affect not only furniture but the accessories as well. The main focus of the year is going to be on large decor elements and warm shaded accessories, bringing a touch of domestic look in our home interiors.
The shift is going to be the most conspicuous in living rooms, where small format wall decor is going be to replaced by large canvas art. On the one hand, the change is perfectly in tune with Scandinavian and other minimalistic interiors. A minimal amount of furniture, focus on the functional rather than decorative — all of those tendencies will preserve their time relevance. On the other hand, though, minor arrangements of pictures or wall mirrors will give place to just one, large format piece of art.
One more decoration element that will stay relevant in the kitchen, hallway — and, of course, — bathroom interiors is the tile. However, the shift towards large format will affect the tiles, too. Large, square pieces of tiles are going to be the best flooring idea in 2016. Even though in square kitchens, square wall tiles are also going to be welcome, a more time-relevant idea for 2016 would be to go with large rectangular units. Moreover, most interior designers will be going for horizontal, rather than vertical tile inlay, which of course, calls for rectangular pieces.
The place where we will be seeing the most horizontally arranged tiles is the hallway, which makes perfect sense, given that most of the contemporary entrances — in apartments, especially — are rather small. Horizontal tile arrangement offers a chance to visually add space and depth to the interior, which is very beneficial — not only for small hallways but also for kitchens.
The place where we will see few tiles — surprisingly — is the bathroom. Even though large decor elements will affect the bathrooms, too, the premises will be going through a significant change. The trendiest 2016 bathrooms will have large floor tiles and pastel shaded wallpaper, reminding us of living space. Large chandeliers, which are also going to be on top of popularity in bathroom interiors, will make the effect of living space in the room truly complete.
Finally, the thing bathrooms and kitchens will have in common in 2016 is the focus on warm shade accessories. Even water taps are going to be massively produced in brass and golden colours. In the kitchen, the shift will also apply to equipment — gilded stainless steel is going to be the most popular shade of 2016 fridges, ovens, and microwaves
