How to Decorate a Glass Coffee Table

Furniture is one of the important necessities of modern life, but a necessity which requires constant attention. There are many tasks that furniture performs in your daily life, such as providing you with the opportunity to relax and take it easy. The function that specific furniture performs varies from item to item: you need tables to eat at and chairs to sit at. Tables are of various kinds: side tables, dining tables, coffee tables, dressing tables and so on. You can give all or any of your tables a greater appeal if you decorate them. You can decorate any part of your home or an awkward corner by placing a table and decorating the table with different accessories in order to add style and unique look. As an example let’s decorate a glass coffee table by following the simple ideas given here.

We’ll assume that you have a coffee table that you like, which is useful, but which could do with just an extra something to make it more attractive. The simplest way to proceed to decorate a glass coffee table  is with some carefully chosen accessories. The accessories can be anything ranging from a flower vase to books for visitors’ attention. Let’s use just these two examples. When decorating a glass coffee table with a vase of flowers, ensure that the colors of the vase and the flowers compliment your room’s theme. Ensure that the flowers or always fresh, or cheat and use high quality artificial ones. Have a real look at the surfaces in your room: is the theme more horizontal than it is vertical? Work this out and choose the vase accordingly: a tall one for a vertical theme a longer one for a horizontal one. This also of course should influence the style in which you arrange the flowers.

In order to decorate a glass coffee table, with a book, you’d think that not much effort is needed. Toss a book onto the table: job done. You couldn’t be more wrong. The idea is that the book is a decorative item. It’s not there for you to read, but to provide visual candy and ideally a talking point for visitors. You really know this already: why do you think there is a class of books called “coffee table books”? Choose a book that has an attractive color that matches the room. Ensure that it’s reasonably large, at least A4. Check that there are at least as many pages of photographs as there are of text. Leave it casually angled on the table. Now the job is done.

The same principles apply to any way you decorate a glass coffee table. The idea is to add a subtle touch, which looks effortless, but which is really well thought out. The creation of a cohesive style is always the aim in interior design, making it look as though you’ve achieved it without any great effort is the mark of the master.
