How To Decorate A Yellow Room

Yellow is a cool color for decorating a room. It’s festive, bright, cheerful and goes with so many themes. You can have a ‘nature and flowers’ theme in your room with artificial sunflowers in a pretty vase, and leaves of a lime green color to give it a fresh and youthful feel. You can hang up yellow floral curtains and use the same print for throw pillows which are offset by a darker natural brown or rust fabric on the couches and rugs. You can also place yellow colored incense candles over any shelves or side tables, especially in a bedroom .  The best thing about this theme is that you have a choice of so many pretty yellow flowers, i.e. sunflowers, daffodils, tulips, take your pick!

Yellow will also be good for a ‘wildlife’ theme if you can grab a large and picturesque poster of tigers or lions and hang it up over one big wall. Decorate the rest of the room with tiger print pillows and rugs and use dark brown as a base for the couch. You can also use tall vivid green plants in large earthen pots in the room to contribute to the jungle-like feel of the room.

Another way to decorate a yellow room would be to go for a mature feel, using yellows and reds. Paint one wall yellow and use embroidered or patchwork lighter yellow table spreads. Place red cushions and pillows around the room. Use a lamp with a yellow cover that can give a muted yellow ambience to the room. Hang up a painting or poster on the yellow wall with the same range of colors, i.e. red and yellow, as well as brown and rust, and give it a thick red border or frame.
