Instagram – The Best Place To Go For Interior Design Inspiration

Redecorating can be daunting and it’s not just the prospect of spending lots of money that gives people cause for concern. Trying to decide what would look good where can be incredibly difficult if you’re not a professional interior designer and it’s not always affordable for everyone to bring in the professionals.

This is where the internet really comes into its own. There are so many sites out there, from magazines and newspapers to personal blogs, that are brilliant sources that you could use to help make a few home decor decisions, whether you need help working out where your TV units should go or what colour would go best in a smaller than usual kitchen.

One of the best places to go online if you want a few ideas to help you get started has to be Instagram. Not only will you find a wealth of professional interiors specialists on the site, all posting incredibly beautiful pictures of houses and their insides, but you’ll also be able to see what amateur decorators have been up to. These days, people live to document their every move and Instagram is perfect for this – if you want a snapshot into someone else’s life then this is the place to go!

It couldn’t be easier to find pictures on Instagram that are relevant to what you’re doing. Simply just think about what kind of designs and styles you’d like to see in your own home and search under the relevant hashtags to find lots of stunning images that others have uploaded. If, for example, you wanted to just see what’s been going on in the interior design world, searching for something more generic might be a good first step.

On Social Platform

Popular hashtags include #interiordesign, #instahome, #homestyle, #interiordesignwhat and #interiorinspo. The last one is perhaps one of the best ones to use and search under first, since it’s one of the most-used tags on Instagram.

From there, you could consider searching for more specific tags, like #lagom, #hygge, #scandistyle, #midcenturymodern… you get the idea! Whatever kind of style you’re looking to achieve at home, there’s sure to be posts on Instagram under your chosen hashtag so just take a look and see what pictures come up. Create a database of your favourite images and then see what kind of themes you can spot as this will help you make decisions about what design ideas you want to bring in at home and which are better left at the front door.

Of course, there are other sites online that are also good places to go for inspiration, such as Pinterest, but Instagram gets our vote as one of the best because of the insight it gives you into the houses of ‘ordinary people’, not just the professional designers.

Often, you’ll get your best ideas just by looking at what other people have done as they’re often a lot more imaginative. Or you could find out exactly what you don’t want to do! Either way, you’re sure to have a good time browsing all those images.
