Step into most nightclubs, and you’ll see the dance floor a stage or booth for the DJ at one end, and a bar with a few tables and chairs along the other. For most run-of-the-mill clubs, that’s the extent of décor. The tables are utilitarian to say the least. The lighting dim to hide tears in the vinyl of the booth and barstool seats, and the old bar has been bearing the brunt of the business for too many years. Now, step into a new kind of club, where the nightclub furniture grooves like the music.
Today’s entrepreneur nightclub owner is setting the stage for his club’s scene, using the kind of furniture that customers want. Cushioned encircle glass top tables and provide a great place to sit and watch the game. That’s because most of today’s more modern nightclubs include a few big-screen televisions on their menus. Happy hour is more fun when you can group a dozen co-workers around a central bar (round bar with a bartender in the middle), too. All in all, the nightclub furniture that is finding favor resembles what you might see in a chic new restaurant.
Of course, club owners aren’t stupid. The furniture is simple and low maintenance. The bars are often padded around the edges to prevent accidents. The “glass” tables have a rubber-like molding around the rims to prevent the same. The floors are smooth and shiny, but not slick. They want you to be able to navigate the room after a few drinks without any mishaps, and this nightclub furniture helps out.
Perhaps some day all nightclubs will have nice new furniture, use a little more light and provide some areas where you can actually hear what someone is saying without having them yell. Until then, we’ll settle for finding a few that are ready to make some positive changes to the nightlife.
