Every decade has its own interior decoration trends – trends that typically dominate in the contemporary apartments. And, there are always homeowners who grow tired of the mainstream trends and are looking for some less usual interior arrangements. In today’s homes, featuring plenty of high gloss items with bright LED lights and tinted glass, traditional wooden furniture provides a homey relief.
Yet, before looking for wooden furniture, you should learn to differentiate between different types of wood processing. A lot will depend on the way the material was dried. If the wood is not dried properly, it can deform with the time – especially if your room is moist. If you do not want to control humidity levels in your home all the time, the best idea would be to go with reclaimed wood – fine quality wood dried at high temperatures.
Of course, there are other aspects you will have to consider. Apart from wood quality, there is also a question of particular interior arrangement. To make the matters simpler, let’s say we are looking for a reclaimed oak dining table with chairs. This is a very traditional decorative solution that can be installed:
In the kitchen
A compact reclaimed oak dining table and chairs will look stylish almost in any kitchen. For many people, kitchen is the primary room associated with domestic comfort and homey atmosphere. So, an arrangement as light and traditional as that can prove very useful for a typical kitchen. Plus, if you get a little creative with the accessories, display some wooden utensils or other kitchen trinkets, you will achieve a very impressive, warm atmosphere in the room.
In the dining room
A spacious reclaimed oak dining table and chairs will look astonishing in a traditionally styled dining room, featuring massive sideboards, heavy rich drapes, and antique looking console table. Yet, this is just a quick tip – the exact arrangement is totally up to you.
In the living room dining area
If you do not have a separate dining room, you can install your new reclaimed oak dining table and chairs in the living room. For a limited-space room, you can always go with an extendable dining table. Depending on your room dimensions, it can be a compact 4-seater table increasing its seating capacity up to 8 seats.
As you can see, it will not be difficult to integrate a reclaimed oak dining table and chairs into any room, as long as it is not a bedroom. Note, however, that if you have chosen to decorate your room / apartment in a traditional style, you should stay consistent and stick to the interior you have chosen. In other words, make sure that other furniture items in the room (ideally, in the entire apartment) are designed in the same fashion. Plus, try to keep the colour palette in a given room homogeneous. Fortunately, oak comes in many hues, so finding the shade you like will not be much of a problem – even if you already have this room furnished.
