The decorative theme of a bar can often determine the types of fixtures and furnishings used. For instance, if your bar is going with a Western theme, use lots of pinewood and plenty of leather in the materials you use. If you’re a motorcycle fan and want to recreate a biker den, you’ll still want leather, but with metal and dark woods. For either of these themes, using saddle bar stools instead of those with regular seats makes sense. The two themes would both look great with that sort of seating.
A saddle seat bar stools is both durable and attractive. The sloping curve of its seat is both comfortable and reminiscent of a horse’s saddle. Of course, motorcycle saddle seats also resemble horse’s saddles, so you can get the tie-in. The stools almost always have wooden legs and come in the usual sizes. There are some manufacturers offering “lift” stools in this style but those would probably be overkill and over priced for an in-home bar. I’d stick with the traditional saddle bar stools for use in the home and pay particular attention to finishes and colors for the legs and the leather.
In a Western themed bar, try to find stools made of pine that has been finished to show off its grain. Leather that’s been “antiqued” will ensure the seats look right for your theme. In the biker bar you’re putting together, you want painted legs on the stool, probably in dark brown or basic black. Black leather is also the seat cover of choice and if you can get them fasten it using studs in either a chrome or steel finish, it will look much cooler.
So saddle up, biker style or old West style and get busy shopping. Once your bar is furnished with the right stools, you’re on your way to having a really great place to party.
