If the marks are not in the right places for you to use them in your new bath, then you are looking at a costly remodeling job.

Second, decide how much of the work you want to do yourself, and how much you will pay a contractor to handle. If you want to do the entire job, then you need to be prepared for some heavy lifting and messy work. If you hire a pro to hand the entire rehab, then you’ll be looking a heavy bill instead.

If you’re looking to save money, now is a good time to examine your existing fixtures. The sink, toilet, tub and/or shower are the biggest dollar expenses in a home bathroom  renovation. If you can salvage any of them, it will help cut your costs.

Finally, do provide yourself with a workable option (like sharing the kid’s bath) until the project is done. It always takes longer than you think. In the end, however, you’ll be glad to know that your bath looks as good as the rest of your house… maybe better!
