Turning A Spare Room Into A Guest Room: 5 Creative Ideas

If you have a spare room in your house and want to turn it into a guest room, you do not necessarily have to make another bedroom out of it – even though it might be the first thing on anyone’s mind. Even though a spare bedroom can always prove beneficial, it might be even a better idea to turn the room into something you will use when you are not having people over. On the whole, there are several interior design ideas that might help you get started.

Turning A Spare Room Into A Guest Room: 5 Creative Ideas

Classic bedroom arrangement

Of course, a lot will depend on the guests you are normally having. If those are mostly couples, it may be logical to create another classic bedroom in your house. A double bed , a wardrobe, perhaps – a computer or a coffee table instead of a dressing one will be fine. After all, you do not need a replica of your own room.

Double beds

Alternatively, you can create a motel-like atmosphere in the spare room. Start with a couple of double beds and think over which items might fit into the picture. Perhaps, a bedside cabinet in between those two? An extra chest of drawers or another storage unit you do not want to keep in your own bedroom? An extra TV on a stand might also be a great idea.

A couch and a couple of folding armchairs

If another bedroom is not something you are anxious about, you can go with a more neutral arrangement – like a couch, some bookshelves, and maybe a couple of folding armchairs. This way, you will create a perfect relaxation spot for yourself and have at least three extra places in case some of your friends or relatives need to spend the night.

Study room style

Another idea you could benefit from is turning a spare room into a study. You can use it when you need a moment to yourself, and let your guests in anytime they come to visit. Think of it – plenty of bookshelves  for your favorite masterpieces, or a cozy computer table, and comfortable folding sofa for your guests, when there are some – a great example of a win-win situation for you and your close people.

Rustic look

Finally, you can go even more creative and design a rustic cabin-like room in your house. Depending on the furniture you put in there, it can be a spare bedroom, or a study, or anything else you have in mind.

Of course, feel free to make any necessary changes – after all, those are just some of the initial suggestions that might prove useful. For more ideas, you can visit any online furniture store and simply go through the selection of items they offer – who knows, maybe you will get some inspiration simply by looking at the listed furniture. If so, make sure to remember one basic interior decoration guideline – your home interior should be consistent, so whatever you choose, make sure that the newly decorated room is in tune with your existing arrangements.
