Living Room Furniture

What is the Best Furniture for a Small Living Room?

If you’ve got a small living room, then it’s normal to feel as if your options are limited. Yet, while that can feel like a negative point, in actual fact, it’s something of a blessing in disguise. It can be more difficult to decorate a large living room, especially if you’re on a budget. When you’ve only got a small space to furnish, many of the more difficult decisions have been made for you.

Still, it’s important that you get the right living room furniture for the space. In this blog, we’re going to run through some of the best furniture options for a small living room.

Mirrored Living Room Furniture

There are plenty of tips and tricks to help make a small space look bigger than it is. Most of them involve light; if you can maximise the light in your living room, then it’ll feel much less cramped. One of the best ways to increase light in a space is to reflect as much light as possible. So why not use your furniture to meet this end? There’s plenty of mirrored living room furniture that you can buy for your home. Rather than just having a table or sideboard, you can have a mirrored table or sideboard, which will help reflect all of that gorgeous natural light that streams into your home. And of course, it’s not just the light aspect that you have to look forward to — these items can be beautiful in their own right.

Side Tables

While you’ve only got a small space to worth with, it’s important not to overlook functionality. There are certain things that all living rooms need; for instance, the capacity to put those warm drinks when they’re not in your hand, flower vases, and so on. While you might want to have a large coffee table in front of your sofa, you don’t necessarily need to. One good option is to have a small side table at the end of your sofa. If they’re lower to the ground than the arms of the sofa, then it’ll be pretty well concealed, yet you’ll lose none of the functionality that you’d get from a larger table.

You don’t have to limit yourself to just one side table, either. You could invest in a nest of tables, which are essentially three tables that take up the space of one when they’re not in use. When you need an extra table, you’ll simply be able to slide out one of the tables, and that’ll be it.

Display Frame Stands

Display frames are a good way to bring some personality to a living room since you can use them to place photos, books, and other personal items. You might not have plenty of space to work with, but you’ll still want to add these things, especially since they can significantly increase the cosy factor of the room. Rather than going for a large and bulky display unit, you can look at sleek frames, which look “light” and won’t crowd up the space.

If the metal look doesn’t work with the aesthetics of the room, then you could also consider a slimline wooden shelving unit. But in any case, you’ll find display stands of all shapes and sizes, so you’ll be able to find the one that’s ideal for your living room, no matter how big it is.

Sofa Options

The sofa is arguably the most important part of the living room. After all, that’ll be the main thing that allows you to relax and unwind after a long day. So the sofa isn’t something that you’ll want to overlook; while making sure your living room isn’t cramped can be a key consideration, getting the right sofa is crucial. Fortunately, there are plenty of options to select from, so you can get one that works well with your space, no matter what size it is.

One good option is to look at corner sofas. These are ‘L’ shaped and can be put right up against the wall. It’s a compact design that’ll allow you to have a couple of different seating options; you can either snuggle up on the main part of the sofa or stretch out on the extended part. Another good option is to look at sofa beds. They’re generally pretty compact and have the added bonus of having a good-to-go bed, too. This is ideal if not only do you just have a small living room, but a small property, since that means you’ll be less likely to have a guest bedroom. With a sofa bed, you can overcome the problems of limited rooms and have the ability to invite friends and family over to spend the night.

Drinks and Serving Trolleys

You don’t necessarily need to have a large coffee table in your living room. In fact, not having one is recommended if you’re trying to maximise space in the living room. Still, there’ll be times when you need something to serve takeaway meals, place drinks, snacks, and so on. To fill that need is drinks and serving trolleys. These can be kept in the corner of the room (or in another room entirely) and just be rolled out as and when they’re needed. There is no shortage of styles and sizes available, so you can find the one that’s right for you. And along with all the other benefits, you’ll get to enjoy all the classiness that goes with serving drinks and food in this way.

Decoration

All living rooms need some decoration to add sparkle, colour, and vibrancy. There are plenty of non-bulky options available for small living rooms. For example, could you add a beautiful clock or mirror to the wall? Or a rug to the floor? These things will take up next to no space, yet will help to give your living room character.

Take the tips and advice that we’ve outlined above, and it won’t be long before you’ve got a living room space that you love!
