Decorating With Mirrors Adds New Dimensions

Decorating With Mirrors Adds New Dimensions

Even if you’re not vain, you probably look in a mirror at least twice every day. They are part of our culture and our lives. Mirrors  were once rare and costly and, therefore, coveted. In our day, however, they are common and considered a basic for every home. Still, there are some decorating tricks utilizing looking glasses you may not have thought of that, with a little ingenuity and time, will perk up the look of any room. One of my favorite tricks with mirrors is the expandable space illusion. If you have a small room and want to create the illusion of it being larger, then a strategically placed mirror reflecting wall or window, but not yourself, can add to its visual dimensions. When you look in the direction of the mirror, you see the reflected space instead of your own face. This works well in smaller rooms without dark contrasting woodwork or wallpaper. Darker rooms prevent the mirror from blending the image and the reality as well, but it can still be done.(furniture Another mirror trick is the “hall of mirrors”. You’ve been to the carnival and gone inside one of these halls. You see looking glasses of all sizes...

The Chest Of Drawers: A Tool For Organizing Your Wardrobe

The Chest Of Drawers: A Tool For Organizing Your Wardrobe

Most of us are closet addicts. We hang up clothes and pack them into our closets like sardines in a tin can. This often means pulling out a shirt or a pair of slacks that look as if they’ve never seen the hot side of an iron. Even permanent press items look wrinkled and creased. Create some storage space in your closet without giving half your clothes to charity by adding a chest of drawers  to your bedroom décor furniture    While many consider them old-fashioned, a chest of drawers will offer you loads of storage space for more than socks and underwear. You can fold plenty of your good clothes and place then neatly in a drawer. Think about your clothes. Which ones really need to be on hangers and which would do as well if folded and stored in a drawer. Chances are that at least half of the items hanging in your closet would be as well off, if not better off, in a drawer. Another use for one of these chests is as storage for off-season garments. Winter items that won’t be worn again until late in the autumn season can be washed, pressed and placed in drawers with...

Robes and Wardrobes Furniture

Robes and Wardrobes Furniture

You must have thought at least once that no one has ever produced wardrobes wide and spacious enough to meet everybody’s needs. Wardrobes always seem so bulky, while our clothes are wrinkled. For making space in all wardrobes in your home (and they are all stuffed), you will need to organize yourself first and say goodbye to a million unnecessary things you no longer wear.  Then why do I need wardrobes if I can’t keep my clothes, you will ask. People often buy more than they can wear in a season – which brings another issue to the surface. Come new season, get all the clothes out and rearrange existing wardrobes to suit the coming season. You are not likely to need a coat in the middle of summer, and a coat takes up quite a bit of space in everybody’s wardrobes.Prepare and clean your out-of-season clothes and store them into designed bags, suck the air out with vacuum-cleaner and store them to a dark and dry place. You will see how much space this will make in all your wardrobes. Additionally, you can try and free some more space in your wardrobes. You will not only make more space, but...
